Red Eyes Green Frog

The Red-Eyed Green Frog is anuran amphibian specie. As adult, it gets to have bright colors all over his body. Green predominates, but usually has other colors such as blue or yellow. The front legs have a bright blue, while the rear legs are red or orange.

The male is smaller than the female; this is 56 mm and the female 71 mm. They are nocturnal and arboreal. Its skin contains toxins, but they are not as powerful. In Costa Rica it is called “Calzonuda Frog”.

Habitat & Range: Moist lowland rainforests in areas near water bodies.

In Costa Rica, the Red-Eyed Green Frog is extended along the Caribbean slope from sea level to 1,000 altitude and on the Pacific slope, in the areas of rainforest from sea level to 1,000 m; recently found in Nicoya Peninsula, but is absent from parts of Guanacaste.
