Coral Snake Plush

Coral Snake
The Coral Snake is most commonly encountered coral snake in Costa Rica. It is distinguished by a pattern of red, yellow, and black body rings with the red rings bordered on both sides by yellow, as well as the bright yellow band across the head.

This kind of snake is a medium sized coral snake and doesn’t typically grow over 1.1 m in length. The scales are smooth on both body and tail and the head appears blunt with very small eyes and has very poor eyesight.

Habitat & Range: Dry forests and rainforests, in a variety of habitats, including palmetto and scrub areas, wooded areas, swamps, in logs, tree trunks or under rotting leaves in the rainforests. It spends most of its time underground in places like holes dug by other animals.

In Costa Rica, the Coral Snake extends through tropical and subtropical rain forests of the Caribbean slope from sea level to 1100 m altitude.
